Electrodialysis
Electrodialysis is a water treatment process that uses an electric field to separate ions in a solution. It involves the use of ion-exchange membranes, which allow specific ions to pass through while blocking others. This method is commonly used to desalinate seawater or to purify water by removing salts and other impurities.
The process works by applying a voltage across the membranes, causing positive ions to move toward the negative electrode and negative ions to move toward the positive electrode. This movement creates a flow of purified water, making electrodialysis an efficient method for producing clean water and managing wastewater.
