El-Lahun
El-Lahun is an ancient Egyptian site located near the modern village of Lahun in the Faiyum region. It is best known for the pyramid built for the Middle Kingdom pharaoh Senusret II, which dates back to around 1880 BCE. The site also includes a workers' village and various tombs, providing valuable insights into daily life during that period.
The pyramid of El-Lahun is unique because it was constructed using mudbrick rather than stone, which was more common in other pyramids. Excavations at El-Lahun have revealed artifacts, pottery, and inscriptions that help historians understand the culture and economy of ancient Egypt during the Middle Kingdom.
