Edward the Exile
Edward the Exile was the son of King Edmund Ironside and the grandson of King Æthelred the Unready. Born around 1016, he was raised in exile in Hungary after his father's death. In 1057, he was invited back to England to claim the throne, as his half-brother, King Edward the Confessor, had no children.
Upon his return, Edward the Exile was welcomed but faced political challenges. He died shortly after arriving in England, possibly due to illness or foul play. His death led to the rise of his children, including Edgar the Ætheling, who would later become a claimant to the English throne.
