Eastern Chalukyas
The Eastern Chalukyas were a South Indian dynasty that ruled from the 7th to the 12th centuries. They were known for their contributions to art, architecture, and literature, particularly in the region of present-day Andhra Pradesh. The dynasty was established by Vijayaditya I and is often recognized for its unique temple designs and intricate sculptures.
The Eastern Chalukyas were closely related to the Western Chalukyas of Karnataka and played a significant role in the cultural and political landscape of southern India. Their reign saw the flourishing of the Kakatiya dynasty and the spread of Shaivism and Vaishnavism in the region, influencing local traditions and practices.
