Duke of Saxe-Weissenfels
The Duke of Saxe-Weissenfels was a title held by members of the House of Wettin in the German region of Saxe-Weissenfels. This duchy was established in the early 17th century and was part of the larger territory of Saxony. The dukes played a significant role in the political landscape of the Holy Roman Empire during their reign.
The most notable duke was Johann Georg I, who ruled from 1656 to 1680. Under his leadership, Saxe-Weissenfels became known for its cultural contributions, including music and the arts. The duchy eventually became part of Saxony-Anhalt after the dissolution of the duchy in the 18th century.
