Duchess Sophie of Saxe-Weimar was a German noblewoman born on January 1, 1753. She was the daughter of Duke Ernst August I of Saxe-Weimar and Duchess Anna Amalia of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. Sophie played a significant role in the cultural life of her time, particularly in the arts and education.
In 1775, she married Duke Karl August of Saxe-Weimar, becoming the Duchess consort. Sophie was known for her patronage of literature and the arts, supporting notable figures such as the writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. She passed away on June 21, 1830, leaving a lasting legacy in her duchy.
