Dom Pedro IV
Dom Pedro IV was a significant figure in Brazilian history, born on October 12, 1798. He was the son of King João VI of Portugal and became the first Emperor of Brazil after declaring independence from Portugal in 1822. His reign was marked by efforts to establish a constitutional monarchy and promote civil rights.
After abdicating the Brazilian throne in 1831 in favor of his son, Dom Pedro II, he returned to Portugal. There, he played a crucial role in the Liberal Wars, supporting the constitutional monarchy against absolutist forces. He died on September 24, 1834, and is remembered for his contributions to both Brazil and Portugal.
