Divine Right
The concept of "Divine Right" is a political and religious doctrine that asserts a monarch's legitimacy comes directly from God. According to this belief, kings and queens are chosen by God to rule, and their authority is unquestionable. This idea was prevalent in Europe during the Middle Ages and the early modern period, justifying absolute monarchy.
Under the Divine Right theory, any challenge to the monarch's power was seen as a challenge to God's will. This belief system supported the idea that rulers were accountable only to God, not to their subjects or any governing body, reinforcing the notion of absolute authority in governance.
