D. Pedro I
D. Pedro I was the first Emperor of Brazil, reigning from 1822 to 1831. Born on October 12, 1798, in Lisbon, Portugal, he was the son of King John VI of Portugal. D. Pedro played a crucial role in Brazil's independence from Portugal in 1822, declaring it on September 7 of that year.
After facing political challenges and opposition, D. Pedro abdicated the throne in favor of his son, D. Pedro II, in 1831. He then returned to Portugal, where he became known as D. Pedro IV. He passed away on September 24, 1834, in Lisbon.
