Cross Country Meets
A cross country meet is a competitive running event where teams or individual runners race over a variety of terrains, typically including grass, dirt, and trails. These meets usually take place in parks or open fields and can range in distance, often between 3 to 5 kilometers for high school athletes.
Runners compete in teams, with each team's score based on the finishing positions of its top runners. The goal is to have the lowest score possible, as points are assigned based on placement. Cross country emphasizes endurance, strategy, and teamwork, making it a unique and challenging sport.
