Croatian History
Croatian history dates back to the early medieval period when the Croats settled in the region during the 7th century. They established the Kingdom of Croatia in the 10th century, which later entered a personal union with the Kingdom of Hungary in the 1102. This period saw the development of a distinct Croatian identity and culture.
In the 20th century, Croatia was part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes, later known as Yugoslavia. After a tumultuous period marked by World War II and the Yugoslav Wars in the 1990s, Croatia declared independence in 1991 and became a member of the European Union in 2013.
