Count Otto of Bavaria
Count Otto of Bavaria was a member of the Bavarian royal family, born in 1848. He was the son of King Maximilian II of Bavaria and Marie of Prussia. Otto is known for his mental health struggles, which led to his being declared insane in 1875. Despite this, he was a significant figure in Bavarian history and was often referred to as the "King in Exile."
Otto's life was marked by his long-term confinement in a mental institution, where he remained until his death in 1916. His brother, Ludwig III of Bavaria, succeeded him as the last king of Bavaria. Otto's legacy is intertwined with the history of the Bavarian monarchy and its eventual decline.
