Chronic liver failure
Chronic liver failure is a long-term condition where the liver gradually loses its ability to function properly. This can result from various causes, including hepatitis, alcohol abuse, and fatty liver disease. Symptoms may include fatigue, jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), and swelling in the abdomen and legs.
As the liver deteriorates, it can lead to serious complications, such as portal hypertension and liver cirrhosis. Treatment focuses on managing symptoms and addressing the underlying cause. In severe cases, a liver transplant may be necessary to restore normal liver function.
