Chinchaysuyu
Chinchaysuyu was one of the four regions of the Inca Empire, known as the Tawantinsuyu. It was located in the northwest part of South America, primarily covering areas of present-day Peru, Ecuador, and parts of Colombia. The region was characterized by its diverse geography, including mountains, valleys, and coastal areas, which contributed to a variety of agricultural practices.
The name "Chinchaysuyu" translates to "the land of the north" in the Quechua language. It was significant for its rich resources, including gold and silver, and served as a cultural and political center. Major cities in this region included Cuzco, the capital of the Inca Empire, and Quito.
