Charles Francis Hall
Charles Francis Hall was an American explorer born on April 24, 1821, in New York. He is best known for his Arctic expeditions in the late 19th century, particularly his search for the lost Franklin Expedition, which aimed to navigate the Northwest Passage. Hall's journeys contributed significantly to the understanding of the Arctic region.
Hall led three major expeditions to the Arctic between 1860 and 1879. His most notable achievement was the discovery of the remains of the Franklin Expedition in 1859. He also established friendly relations with the Inuit people, learning from their knowledge of the harsh Arctic environment. Hall died on November 8, 1871, during his final expedition.
