Charles Emmanuel IV of Sardinia
Charles Emmanuel IV of Sardinia was born on February 3, 1751, and became the King of Sardinia in 1796. He was a member of the House of Savoy and ruled during a tumultuous period marked by the French Revolutionary Wars. His reign was characterized by efforts to maintain the independence of his kingdom amid external pressures.
In 1802, Charles Emmanuel IV abdicated the throne in favor of his brother, Victor Emmanuel I, and chose to live in exile in France. He later became a devout Catholic and entered a religious order, dedicating his life to spirituality until his death on October 6, 1819.
