Louis, Grand Dauphin
Louis, Grand Dauphin was the eldest son of King Louis XIV of France and Maria Theresa of Spain. Born on November 1, 1661, he was the heir apparent to the French throne. Louis was known for his education and upbringing in the royal court, where he was groomed for future leadership.
Despite his royal status, Louis never became king, as he died of smallpox on April 14, 1711, at the age of 49. His death had significant implications for the French monarchy, as it shifted the line of succession to his son, Louis, Duke of Burgundy, who would later become the next Dauphin.
