Carpathian Ruthenia
Carpathian Ruthenia is a historical region located in the eastern part of Ukraine, near the borders with Slovakia and Hungary. It is situated in the Carpathian Mountains and is known for its picturesque landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and diverse ethnic groups, including Ukrainians, Hungarians, and Rusyns.
Historically, Carpathian Ruthenia was part of various states, including the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Czechoslovakia. After World War II, it became part of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. Today, it is recognized for its unique traditions, folk art, and the influence of its mountainous terrain on local lifestyles.
