Bulgarian Islam
Bulgarian Islam primarily refers to the Islamic faith practiced by the Bulgarian Muslims, a significant minority in Bulgaria. This community mainly consists of Pomaks, who are Bulgarian-speaking Muslims, and Turks, who are descendants of the Ottoman Empire. The majority of Bulgarian Muslims are Sunni, and their practices often blend traditional Islamic customs with local cultural elements.
Islam was introduced to Bulgaria during the Ottoman Empire rule, which lasted for nearly five centuries. Today, Bulgarian Muslims contribute to the country's cultural diversity, celebrating both Islamic holidays like Eid al-Fitr and local traditions. The Muslim community is primarily concentrated in the northeastern and southern regions of Bulgaria.
