Bone Morphogenetic Protein
Bone Morphogenetic Protein (BMP) is a group of growth factors that play a crucial role in bone formation and healing. These proteins are part of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily and are essential for the development of the skeletal system. BMPs stimulate the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into bone-forming cells called osteoblasts, promoting new bone growth.
In addition to their role in bone development, BMPs are also involved in the repair of fractures and other bone injuries. They are used in various medical applications, including orthopedic surgeries and dental procedures, to enhance bone regeneration and healing.
