Bencao Gangmu, also known as the "Compendium of Materia Medica," is a comprehensive Chinese medical text written by Li Shizhen during the Ming Dynasty. Completed in 1578, it catalogs over 1,800 medicinal substances, including plants, animals, and minerals, along with their uses and properties.
The work is organized into 52 volumes and serves as a critical reference for traditional Chinese medicine. Bencao Gangmu not only emphasizes the importance of herbal medicine but also integrates knowledge from earlier texts, making it a foundational work in the field of pharmacology and herbalism in China.
