Souter Lighthouse
Souter Lighthouse is located on the coast of Tyne and Wear, England. Built in 1871, it was the first lighthouse in the world to be powered by electricity. The lighthouse stands 65 feet tall and features a distinctive red and white striped design, making it a recognizable landmark.
The lighthouse was designed by the famous engineer Sir Thomas Matthews and was operational until 1988. Today, it is managed by The National Trust and serves as a popular tourist attraction, offering visitors the chance to explore its history and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding coastline.
