Battle of Saragarhi
The Battle of Saragarhi took place on September 12, 1897, between a small group of 21 soldiers from the British Indian Army and around 10,000 Afghan tribesmen. The soldiers, part of the 36th Sikh Regiment, were stationed at a communication post in the North-West Frontier Province, now in Pakistan. They fought valiantly to defend their position against overwhelming odds.
Despite being heavily outnumbered, the Sikh soldiers displayed extraordinary bravery and resilience. They held their ground for several hours, communicating their situation to their superiors until they were ultimately overwhelmed. The battle is remembered as a symbol of courage and sacrifice in Indian military history.
