36th Sikh Regiment
The 36th Sikh Regiment was a unit of the British Indian Army, formed in 1846. It was primarily composed of Sikh soldiers and played a significant role in various military campaigns, including the Second Anglo-Sikh War and World War I. The regiment was known for its bravery and discipline, earning a reputation for effective combat performance.
In 1947, with the partition of India, the regiment was disbanded. Many of its soldiers were absorbed into the newly formed Indian Army. The legacy of the 36th Sikh Regiment continues to be honored in military history and among the Sikh community.
