British Indian Army
The British Indian Army was the military force raised by the British Empire in India from the 19th century until India's independence in 1947. It was composed of Indian soldiers, known as sepoys, and was crucial in maintaining British control over the Indian subcontinent. The army played significant roles in various conflicts, including both World Wars, where it contributed large numbers of troops.
After India's independence, the British Indian Army was divided into the armies of the newly formed nations of India and Pakistan. This transition marked a significant change in military structure and allegiance, as both countries established their own national armies to serve their respective interests.
