Baldwin V, Count of Flanders
Baldwin V, Count of Flanders was a nobleman who lived during the 11th century. He was born around 1012 and became the Count of Flanders in 1036 after the death of his father, Baldwin IV. Baldwin V was known for his efforts to strengthen the region's economy and political power, as well as for his involvement in various military campaigns.
In 1056, Baldwin V married Adelaide of Italy, which helped to solidify alliances with other powerful families. His reign was marked by both prosperity and conflict, as he navigated the complex relationships between local lords and the broader European powers of the time. Baldwin V died in 1067, leaving a significant legacy in Flanders.
