Adelaide of Italy
Adelaide of Italy, born around 931, was a noblewoman and the daughter of Rudolf II of Burgundy. She became the Queen of Italy through her marriage to Lothair II of Italy. After Lothair's death, she faced political challenges and was imprisoned by a rival noble but managed to escape and regain her power.
In 951, Adelaide married Otto I, the Holy Roman Emperor, which strengthened the ties between Italy and the German Empire. She played a significant role in the political landscape of her time and was later canonized as a saint, celebrated for her piety and leadership.
