Bal Gangadhar Tilak
Bal Gangadhar Tilak was an influential Indian nationalist leader born on July 23, 1856. He played a crucial role in the Indian independence movement against British rule. Tilak was a prominent advocate for self-rule and is often referred to as the "Father of Indian Unrest." He emphasized the importance of education and social reform in achieving independence.
Tilak was also a skilled journalist and founded two newspapers, Kesari and Maratha, to promote his ideas. He was a key figure in the Indian National Congress and later formed the Home Rule League to demand greater autonomy for India. His famous slogan, "Swaraj is my birthright," inspired many in the struggle for freedom.
