Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline is a major oil pipeline that transports crude oil from the Caspian Sea region in Azerbaijan to the Mediterranean Sea port of Ceyhan in Turkey. It spans approximately 1,768 kilometers and was completed in 2005, providing a direct route for oil exports while bypassing transit through Russia.
The BTC pipeline plays a crucial role in diversifying energy supply routes and enhancing energy security for countries in the region. It connects with other pipelines, such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, further integrating the energy infrastructure of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey.
