Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum
The Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline is a significant natural gas pipeline that connects the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, to Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, and then to Erzurum in Turkey. This pipeline was constructed to transport natural gas from the Shah Deniz gas field in Azerbaijan to European markets, enhancing energy security and diversifying supply routes.
Completed in 2007, the pipeline spans approximately 1,100 kilometers and plays a crucial role in the Southern Gas Corridor. It allows for the transportation of gas from the Caspian Sea region to Europe, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources and promoting regional cooperation among the involved countries.
