Bakewell pudding
Bakewell pudding is a traditional English dessert that originated in the town of Bakewell in Derbyshire. It consists of a flaky pastry base filled with a layer of jam, typically raspberry, and topped with a rich almond-flavored sponge made from ground almonds, sugar, butter, and eggs.
The pudding is often finished with a light icing and sometimes garnished with flaked almonds. Unlike the more widely known Bakewell tart, which has a shortcrust pastry, the pudding has a softer, more cake-like texture. It is enjoyed warm or at room temperature and is a popular treat in tea rooms across England.
