Averrhoa carambola (Starfruit)
Averrhoa carambola, commonly known as starfruit, is a tropical fruit-bearing tree native to Southeast Asia. The fruit is distinctive for its star-shaped cross-section and has a sweet-tart flavor. It is typically yellow or green when ripe and can be eaten fresh, juiced, or used in cooking.
The tree can grow up to 30 feet tall and thrives in warm, humid climates. Starfruit is rich in vitamins C and A, as well as antioxidants. However, it contains oxalic acid, which can be harmful to individuals with kidney issues.
