Aunt Jemima
Aunt Jemima was a brand of pancake mix and syrup that originated in the late 19th century. It was created by the Pearl Milling Company and featured a character based on a racial stereotype of a Black woman. The brand became popular for its convenience and was marketed as a quick way to make breakfast.
In 2020, amid growing discussions about racial equality, the brand announced it would change its name and logo. The decision was part of a broader movement to address and eliminate racially insensitive imagery in branding, similar to changes made by other brands like Uncle Ben's and Land O'Lakes.
