Aung San Suu Kyi
Aung San Suu Kyi is a prominent political leader from Myanmar, known for her long-standing struggle for democracy and human rights in her country. Born on June 19, 1945, she is the daughter of Aung San, a national hero who played a key role in Myanmar's independence from British rule. Suu Kyi became the leader of the National League for Democracy (NLD) and gained international recognition for her nonviolent resistance against military rule.
In 1991, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts to promote democracy and peaceful coexistence. After years of house arrest, she was released in 2010 and led her party to victory in the 2015 elections, becoming the de facto leader of Myanmar. However, her leadership has faced criticism, particularly regarding the treatment of the Rohingya minority.
