Aung San
Aung San was a prominent Burmese nationalist leader and the founder of the Tatmadaw, Myanmar's armed forces. Born on February 13, 1915, he played a crucial role in the struggle for independence from British colonial rule. Aung San was instrumental in negotiating with the British for Burma's independence, which was achieved in 1948.
He is also known as the father of Aung San Suu Kyi, a notable political figure and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. Tragically, Aung San was assassinated on July 19, 1947, just months before Burma gained independence. His legacy continues to influence Myanmar's political landscape today.
