Asoka Pillars
The Asoka Pillars are a series of monumental stone pillars erected by Emperor Asoka during the 3rd century BCE in ancient India. These pillars are known for their impressive height, intricate carvings, and inscriptions that promote the principles of Buddhism and moral governance. There are 33 known pillars, with the most famous being the one at Sarnath, which features the iconic Lion Capital of Asoka.
Each pillar typically stands between 40 to 50 feet tall and is made of polished sandstone. The inscriptions on the pillars convey messages of peace, tolerance, and ethical conduct, reflecting Asoka's commitment to spreading Dharma.
