Asiatic black bear
The Asiatic black bear, also known as the moon bear, is a medium-sized bear species found in Asia. It has a distinctive white crescent-shaped mark on its chest and thick black fur. These bears inhabit forests and mountainous regions, primarily in countries like China, India, and Japan. They are omnivorous, feeding on fruits, nuts, insects, and small animals.
Asiatic black bears are generally solitary animals, except during mating season or when a mother is raising her cubs. They are excellent climbers, often seen resting in trees. Due to habitat loss and poaching, their populations are declining, leading to their classification as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
