Sloth Bear
The Sloth Bear is a unique species native to the Indian subcontinent, primarily found in forests and grasslands. It has a shaggy coat, a long snout, and large, curved claws, which help it dig for insects like termites and ants. Unlike other bear species, Sloth Bears are mostly nocturnal and have a diet that consists mainly of insects, fruits, and honey.
These bears are known for their distinctive behavior, often seen standing on their hind legs to forage for food. Sloth Bears are generally solitary animals, but they can be seen with their cubs, which stay with their mother for about two years. Their conservation status is currently listed as vulnerable due to habitat loss and poaching.
