Spectacled Bear
The Spectacled Bear, also known as the Andean Bear, is a species native to the Andes mountains in South America. It is the only bear species found in this region and is characterized by its unique facial markings, which resemble spectacles. These bears typically have a black or dark brown coat and can weigh between 220 to 440 pounds.
Spectacled Bears are primarily herbivorous, feeding on fruits, leaves, and flowers, although they may occasionally consume insects or small animals. They are excellent climbers and often forage in trees. Their population is currently threatened due to habitat loss and poaching, making conservation efforts essential for their survival.
