Argyle Mine
The Argyle Mine is a diamond mine located in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia. It was known for producing a significant quantity of pink and red diamonds, making it one of the most famous diamond mines in the world. The mine began operations in 1983 and was owned by Rio Tinto, a major mining company.
In 2020, the Argyle Mine officially closed after nearly four decades of production. The closure marked the end of an era for the diamond industry, as the mine was responsible for about 90% of the world's supply of pink diamonds. Its unique gemstones continue to be highly sought after by collectors and investors.
