Anna Of Russia
Anna of Russia was the Empress of Russia from 1730 to 1740. She was born on February 7, 1693, and was the daughter of Tsar Peter the Great’s brother, Ivan V. Anna came to power after the death of Peter II and was known for her extravagant lifestyle and reliance on her favorites.
During her reign, Anna focused on strengthening the Russian state and expanding its territory. She continued the policies of her predecessor, promoting the arts and sciences. Her rule is often characterized by the influence of the German nobility and the establishment of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
