Ancestral Puebloan
The Ancestral Puebloan people, also known as the Anasazi, were a Native American culture that thrived in the southwestern United States, particularly in areas like Mesa Verde and Chaco Canyon. They are known for their impressive cliff dwellings and multi-story stone structures, which were built between 100 AD and 1300 AD. Their society was characterized by advanced agricultural practices, including the cultivation of maize, beans, and squash.
Ancestral Puebloans developed a rich cultural heritage, including intricate pottery, weaving, and ceremonial practices. They constructed extensive road systems and trade networks, connecting various communities. By the late 13th century, many Ancestral Puebloans migrated from their established settlements, likely due to environmental changes and resource depletion.
