Amazon basin
The Amazon Basin is a vast region in South America, primarily located in Brazil, but also extending into Peru, Colombia, and several other countries. It covers approximately 7 million square kilometers, making it one of the largest river basins in the world. The basin is home to the Amazon River, which is the second-longest river globally and flows through dense tropical rainforests.
This area is known for its incredible biodiversity, housing millions of species of plants, animals, and insects, many of which are not found anywhere else. The Amazon Rainforest, often referred to as the "lungs of the Earth," plays a crucial role in regulating the global climate and absorbing carbon dioxide.
