Ahmed Chalabi
Ahmed Chalabi was an Iraqi politician and a prominent figure in the movement to overthrow the regime of Saddam Hussein. Born in 1944, he studied in the United States and became a key member of the Iraqi National Congress, which sought to unite various opposition groups against Hussein's rule. Chalabi played a significant role in garnering support for the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.
After the invasion, Chalabi served in various governmental roles, including as a member of the Iraqi Governing Council. However, his influence waned over time, and he faced criticism for his connections to the U.S. and for promoting flawed intelligence regarding weapons of mass destruction. Chalabi passed away in 2015.
