Afghanistan Conflict
The Afghanistan Conflict refers to a series of wars and internal struggles in Afghanistan that began in the late 20th century. It started with the Soviet invasion in 1979, leading to a decade-long war against Afghan resistance fighters, known as the Mujahideen. After the Soviet withdrawal, civil war ensued, resulting in the rise of the Taliban in the 1990s.
In 2001, following the September 11 attacks, the United States invaded Afghanistan to dismantle Al-Qaeda and remove the Taliban from power. This led to a prolonged military presence and efforts to establish a stable government, but the conflict continued with ongoing violence and challenges to peace.
