Achilleid
The "Achilleid" is an unfinished epic poem written by the Roman poet Statius in the 1st century AD. It focuses on the life of the Greek hero Achilles, particularly his youth and the events leading up to the Trojan War. The poem explores themes of heroism, fate, and the complexities of divine intervention.
Statius intended the "Achilleid" to be a continuation of the Iliad and a tribute to Homer's work. Although only a portion of the poem survives, it is recognized for its rich imagery and intricate character development, contributing to the understanding of Achilles as a multifaceted hero in classical literature.
