The Trojan War was a legendary conflict in ancient Greece, primarily fought between the city of Troy and the Greek states. It began when Paris, a prince of Troy, abducted Helen, the wife of the Greek king Menelaus. This act led to a massive Greek expedition to retrieve her, involving many famous heroes like Achilles and Odysseus.
The war lasted for ten years and is famously depicted in Homer's epic poems, the Iliad and the Odyssey. The Greeks ultimately won by using a clever trick: the Trojan Horse, a large wooden statue that hid soldiers inside. This allowed them to infiltrate Troy and claim victory.
