Abd al-Mu'min ibn Ali
Abd al-Mu'min ibn Ali was a prominent leader and the founder of the Almohad Caliphate in the 12th century. Born in 1094 in Morocco, he initially emerged as a religious reformer advocating for a return to strict Islamic principles. His leadership was marked by military conquests that expanded his influence across North Africa and into Spain.
Under his rule, the Almohads unified various Berber tribes and established a powerful empire. Abd al-Mu'min is known for promoting Islamic scholarship and architecture, leaving a lasting legacy in the regions he governed. He died in 1163, but his dynasty continued to shape the history of the Iberian Peninsula and North Africa.
