Öresund Bridge
The Öresund Bridge is a combined road and rail bridge that connects Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, to Malmö, a city in Sweden. Spanning approximately 16 kilometers (10 miles), it consists of a bridge, an artificial island called Peberholm, and a tunnel. The bridge was officially opened in July 2000 and serves as a vital transportation link between the two countries.
The structure is notable for its engineering and design, featuring a cable-stayed bridge section that rises above the water. It facilitates both vehicle and train traffic, significantly reducing travel time between Denmark and Sweden. The Öresund Bridge has become an iconic symbol of regional cooperation and connectivity.
