Great Belt Bridge
The Great Belt Bridge is a major road and rail bridge in Denmark, connecting the islands of Zealand and Funen. Completed in 1998, it spans approximately 18 kilometers (11 miles) and consists of two main sections: a suspension bridge and a box girder bridge. This engineering marvel plays a crucial role in facilitating transportation and trade between the islands.
The bridge is part of the larger Great Belt Fixed Link, which also includes tunnels and ferry services. It significantly reduces travel time and enhances economic connectivity in the region, making it an essential infrastructure project for Denmark.
